Biographies with Ms. Shelton's Class!


Ms. Shelton's 3rd grade class created Vokis, PowerPoints or Paper Slides for their biography project.  Students researched a famous person, and then chose a way to present it using technology.  Some chose Vokis.  Here is an example:

Other students chose PowerPoint.  After the projects were complete, they presented their project to the class.

Fifth Graders Skype with Author Kate Messner


Mrs. Moshier's Fifth Graders skyped with author Kate Messner at the end of November.  Mrs. Mosier said, "the kids really did a great job with this and were definately HUGE hams seeing themselves on camera!"

Students Use Tablets at PSE!

Mrs. Rountree's 2nd grade students are using Samsung Galaxy Tablets everyday in the classroom!  They enjoy doing research and going to educational websites on the tablets.

Author Skyping at PSE!


Ms. Carrera's class made a virtual author visit today using Skype.  The students visited with Cam Robbins, who recently wrote a new children's book.  The students read the book, and looked at her writing compared to the 6 Traits.  They then asked her questions about her book and her writing.  She also discussed the revising process, which helped the students to learn that even authors struggle with writing!

Are You Smarter Than a Third Grader?


Third graders in Ms. Steidel's class played "Are You Smarter Than a Third Grader" using the SMART Slate.  Learning math is FUN!

First Grade Creates Animal Photo Stories


First Grade used Photo Story to create their own story about an animal.  They researched about their animal using the school's research databases, and then created a digital story telling what they had learned in Photo Story.

Fourth Grader Make Cartoons with ToonDoo


Fourth Graders used ToonDoo to tell a story in a different way.  What fun!

Classifying Animals with Kidspiration


Students use Kidspiration as a graphic organizer to classify animals.  Kidspiration helps students develop strong thinking and writing skills.

Kindergarten Students Create Graphs with TurningPoint!


Kindergarten students used the TurningPoint "clickers" to vote on their favorite Armadillo books, and then used that data to create bar graphs showing their preferences.

Fridays are Sweeter with Google Docs

Students used Google Docs to choose their favorite enrichment class for the upcoming SWEET Fridays at Pond Springs.  Teachers used the data to sorted the students by their top choices.

Photostory Biographies


Ms. Addison's fifth graders recently used Photostory to tell the life story of a famous American.  Ms. Cook, the school librarian, taught the students how to use the Photostory software to tell a compelling story, and how to properly cite their sources.  She recently taught other educators how to use Photostory to tell stories and create book trailers at the Texas Computer Education Association convention in Austin, TX.

PPCD Students Classify with SMART


The preschoolers in Mrs. Nicholson's PPCD class learned to classify dinosaurs as "big" or "small" using the SMART board in the library.  Ms. Cook created the activity for the children.
